20 MG of Carbon Dioxide Produced by Google Per Query

Internet surfing Environmental Enemy:

Websites, which are rich in graphics, animations and rich media content burn energy faster, producing as much as 20 milligrams of carbon dioxide per second the website, is viewed.

Google emerged strong with its arguments in favor of its environmental initiatives. In a formal response published on the official response published on the official Google blog, the senior vice president of operations at Google gave a modest   figure of two milligrams of carbon dioxide being spewed into the atmosphere per search query.

The figure was later accepted by the Sunday times, which, in an addendum, later adjusted its point of view Google, according to the statement, takes ‘seriously’ the impact made by information technology consuming an increased amount of energy. Co score reported a starting 10 million monthly search queries received by Google last year and, taking the emission levels at their face value, that still leaves us with 2,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions every monthly by Google alone.

Rich internet content has fueled demand for higher bandwidths and download limits. Mobile internet connects even more people via wireless devices and portable computers. With a flood of Web applications and a looking prospect of cloud computing and remote applications, the internet’s role in out day-today interactions is evolving at a great speed.

Malware & Malpractise Revealed

The Register (technology news website) last year quoted a research report from the University of Washington, that revealed 1 in 20 files offered for download in a 5 month data sampling span contained sufficient number of malware. These covertly installed programs pose a real threat to surfers now and browser manufacturers have also started designing updates to stop this threat.

However, the study undertaken by Google researchers brought the issue of Drive-by downloads into limelight. Result shows that around 450,000 URLs actively involved in this malpractice. The study analyzed contents of billions of URLs and studied 4.5 million pages in-depth to reach the confirmed figure of sites, successfully launching malware binaries and a further 700,000 URLs were identified with similar threat but with a lesser probability.

Death Day for VGA has been Announced

Video Graphics Array Port or more commonly known as VGA Port are set to die in next 5 years. Recently Intel and AMD both announced that they are planning to phase out support for VGA by 2015.

As per reports VGA will be replaced by more advanced Display Port and HDMI Output. These are new technology and supports better resolution and graphic capabilities compared to VGA. Another big factor in phasing out VGA is it consumes more power than other new alternatives.  VGA is considered as bulky as well because of its size and cable requirements.

Most important factor is VGA uses analog technology and these days almost all new graphics related hardware are built on Digital technology which are not compatible with VGA. In fact recently Intel has launched something called Wireless display which will use your Wi-Fi network to transmit display from laptop or desktop to Projector or your HDTV. Thinking about Wireless display, one must be sure that with time it is going to pick up by users or other similar more efficient technology will be developed.
