Want To OverBurn a CD – Here is how with Nero

You have a large audio or Video file which is just above Normal Capacity of your CD. Then You can use OverBurn option to avoid splitting the it up and burning on Multiple CDS. Though it is recommended to Split the file and avoid overburn because of obvious problems associated with it but choice is yours. Here we will present a tutorial on how to Overburn a CD with Nero.  However if you have an ISO or CD image which appears to be larger then CD capacity You can simply burn that without any hesitation it must be created from overburned CD.

Overburning DVD is not at all recommended because a large number of people found that last section of DVD becomes unreadable even if you don’t overburn. In such a case if you overburn you will not be able to read DVD properly.For DVD’s it is always recommended to use data a bit less than actual capacity of DVD. If you have video files which are greater in size that capacity of your DVD, I would Suggest that split the file in multiple files. Or alternatively you can also use DVD Shrink to reduce the bit rate of Video files which In turn reduce the size of Video files.

First Check following things  Before Starting OverBurn CD–

Most of new models of CD/ DVD writer supports OverBurn, if you have an older model you will need to verify that it supports overburn. Also OverBurn is supported by Nero version 6 or later…

You also must have CD-R media which need to be overburned, and you will have to configure Nero Option (explained below), If you are Overburning a CD, you can not use it in Mutisession, You have to Finalize the CD and use Disc-at-once method of Writing CD.

RamDisk – Using More than 3GB ram on 32 bit OS

So You have just upgraded your RAM on 32 bit OS from 3Gb to 8GB and what’s this, system properties still shows only 3.xx GB of memory in use…

This happens because windows can address at most 2 ^ 32 address location in RAM which is just above 3GB, so it discards anything above 3GB. There is no way 32bit Windows can use more than 3GB however, there is an application which can make use of extra ram as Paging File.  Using extra ram as Paging file will greatly improve your systems performance because of access time difference between RAM and HDD…

To create RamDisk from your excess RAM you need an application call “RAMDISK” (http://www.superspeed.com/desktop/ramdisk.php). It will cost you minimum $34.95 for Basic Version for more details on Pricing look at above mentioned page.

Ramdisk is used to create a Virtual disk from the excess RAM which is not used by 32bit WIndows Operating System. The Virtual RAMDisk appears in my computer like a physical hard disk attached to system for OS and other programs. You can configure it’s size, drive letter and file system etc, but maximum size you can define is as per available RAM. You can perform all operation as you do in a physical HARD Disk (like copy, cut, move, delete), but files stored on this drive will be erased as soon as you shut down your system because it is created from RAM and will not be permanently stored. RAMDisk can also be shared and used from Network system.

The difference which makes RAMDisk usable above hard disk is access speed. The time required for a hard disk to read data depends on RPM and other Hardware factor where RAMDisk is almost 50 times faster than that.  Reason behind this is very simple that it don’t have any mechanical parts.

How To use RAMDisk for Performance Boost

To Boost system performance using RAMDisk, you need to create a DISK out of your excess ram and then change your Paging file to be stored in this disk, this will reduce the time taken for paging file to read HDD and you will feel a severe performance boost.

Make USB Drive Write Protected

You might be having some secure data on your PC which you don’t want other user to copy through USB. You can do that by putting a write protection registry hack on your computer.This Hack will work only on Windows Xp SP2 or better and also works on Windows 7.

To enable write protection on USB follow following steps –

  1. Go To Start > Run.
  2. Type ‘Regedit’ in run dialog.
  3. browser to Go to ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlStorageDevicePolicies‘.
  4. Create a DWORD value called ‘WriteProtect‘ and set it to 1.
  5. This will disable writing on USB drive, you can still read from USB device. To enable writing change it’s value to 0 or delete the key.

How To Change Sleep Button Into Power Button

Unlike Windows XP, Vista/ windows 7 default power button does not shut down windows. It will put your computer in sleep mode and this is something quite useful from Microsoft point of view but users find it annoying. To shut down Windows 7 you have to go right of Power button and select Shut Down from a pop up menu.

If you are among those annoyed users don’t worry Microsoft designed a solution for you as well. Actually Microsoft guys have done a great piece of job by adding programmable Power buttons, you can decide what you want to do with default Power button (shut down, Hibernate or Sleep) using Power option in Control panel.

If a User wants to Shutdown or Hibernate his PC quickly this sometime comes frustrating as you hit sleep button and then you find that it went to sleep mode. then to shut down you have to wait till it wakes off ask for login password again and then you can shut down it using other menu. So we bring you a solution for this by programming that sleep button into a Power button.
